I read something the other day that I enjoyed immensely, but you may not. It was an article by Carmen Fowler, the Executive Director of The Layman, on “The PCUSA 2012, Howe We Got Here.” It was as good a survey of what happened to the PCUSA as I have seen.
I know that many of us have gone on beyond the PCUSA days and have no interest in the PCUSA. We are now in the EPC. Let’s look to the future. Let’s not dwell on the past.
Well, I understand. And if that is where you are, Lord, bless you.
But I am not there. My heart is still with many of my brothers and sisters that are still in the PCUSA and they are hurting and I hurt with them. Some of them are coming our way in the EPC, others are going in another direction denominationally, and still others are paralyzed where they are for many and varied reasons.
But if you’d like to know what happened to the PCUSA and you’d like to be more informed about what some of the churches there are still struggling with, then the article I’ve referenced below would be helpful.
You will need a chunk of time to digest it and some of it will cause you to say, “Huh?” But you will see some familiar things and you will understand some important things.
I am His and yours,
